The Prussing Estate

Likely of French parentage, Dabour was born in Turkey and is known to have studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and the Parisian atelier of Philippe-Auguste Jeanron. By 1870 he had immigrated to Baltimore, MD where he gained success as a portrait artist. By the early 1880s he had relocated to New York City in order to broaden his market, but retained strong ties to the Baltimore area. He exhibited at the National Academy of Design and his works may be found in several public collections including the National Portrait Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution, the Maryland Historical Society, the New York Historical Society and the Alabama Department of Archives and History.
