Circa 1930, signed to base "GERDAGO" and with foundry mark for Arthur Rubenstein of Vienna, Austria, raised on a stepped onyx plinth.

HOA 12.5 in.

Born Gerda Gottstein in Vienna in 1906, she studied art in both Berlin and then Paris. By the early 1930s she began a very successful career as a costume designer for dance revues and films, earning the nickname the "Austrian Edith Head." She passed away in Vienna on January 20, 2004.
