Being a rare survivor from an original mintage of only 26,900 coins. NGC recommended this coin be conserved, only to return it un-encapsulted with an "Altered Surface" designation. Close examination reveals tiny scratches that appear to have resulted from improper harsh mechanical cleaning. These marks are especially evident in the reverse fields. Regardless, the coin is genuine Carson City gold having decent eye-appeal with EF details.
