Oil on canvas (lined), unsigned, first half of the 19th century, depicting the man and woman on a terrace with architectural elements looking towards a park setting, the later stretcher stamped W. Morrill / Liner, presented in an antique gilt composition frame.

Deaccessed from the Porter County Museum, Valparaiso, IN

William Morrill took over his father's picture lining business in 1866, working extensively for the National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, the Royal Collection, and other prominent collectors. In 1899 he was succeeded in the business by his own son.

Stable craquelure; over-cleaned; scattered touch-ups visible under UV light; minor cracking and rubbing to frame.
