Probably Pennsylvania, early 19th century, cherry, tiger maple, mahogany and cherry veneer, poplar and white pine secondary, lid, drawers and skirt all feature a banded inlaid border veneer, hinged lipped lid supported by two lopers, interior features tiger maple drawer and door fronts, central prospect door opens to reveal four graduated miniature drawers, flanked by two document drawers, four valanced pigeon holes above two side by side drawers above one long drawer, with four graduated cockbeaded drawers, paneled sides, shaped skirt, raised on turned tapered legs.

Retains an old dark surface with staining; crack to central edge of lid by escutcheon; veneer buckling to right stile beside lid; pulls are old but later; shrinkage cracks to left and right sides of case.
