By descent through the family of Mathieu Rosianu (French, 1897-1969)

Born in Bucharest, Rosianu moved to Paris in 1918 where he studied at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts and the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs. He was immeasurably influenced by the work of Cezanne and the cubists active in Paris in the 1920s. By 1930 he was an active member of the Communist Party and advocated openly from the Association of Writers and Revolutionary Artists.

Rosianu later distanced himself from his revolutionary leanings and enjoyed a successful commercial career designing wallpapers and fabrics under the pseudonym Emile Arbor.

Very good estate condition; not examined out of the frame.
