Gladys Faris was born in Greenville, SC and later moved to Wilmington, NC, where she became a well-known watercolorist painting views of the coastal city. Her work is present in the permanent collection of the Cameron Art Museum, Wilmington, and UNC-Wilmington had a retrospective in 2009 dedicated to her work.
