The 38mm medallion being cast bronze, 16th century or later, and depicting the Roman emperor Commodus (A.D. 177-192) on the obverse and Salus, the personification of well-being, on the reverse. The medallion is secured in a gold surround with a triangular stepped surmount, unmarked and testing 14KT.
