Giovanni Michelotti was one of the most prolific auto designers of the 20th century. His design work with Triumph, Ferrari, Lancia, Maserati, and others is unmistakeable. He designed a car under his own name called the "Shelette", it had wicker seats and dash. With its canopy type top, it was a beach car, and nothing less.

This example of the Herald is the ultimate cruiser at the beach or in town. Finished in a non original, but definitely fun, turquoise with white interior and top. During the restoration around 2000, the body was found to be rust free. and the dash wiring replaced. The body was stripped of windows and interior, and painted. With new carpet and rubber bumpers from England, new rubber installed, and dash refinished. It is equipped with a 1147 cc engine, J-type overdrive transmission, flywheel and clutch, shortened and balanced driveshaft, and front disc brake conversion from a Triumph Spitfire. The rear springs are from a 1500, for better handling. It is safe to say, there is not another example like this anywhere. It has been meticulously maintained and garaged by the current owner since 2002. It has been used in parades and driven to car shows.
