Philippe Halsman is known for his photographs of Marilyn Monroe, as seen here, and those of Salvador Dalí, also offered in this auction. Halsman was a brilliant photographic portraitist who captured emotion and energy through what he called "psychological portraits." In 1952, LIFE Magazine hired Halsman to photograph Monroe in her Hollywood apartment. Rather than situating Monroe in static postures, Halsman worked with her through dialogue and interaction with her personal belongings and space to result in these intimate photos.

Two with slight waviness and sheets shifted in framing, otherwise good apparent condition; not examined out of frames.
