Mark of James Wilks, London (1742) hallmarks, the cinquefoil frame raised on four shell feet, the baluster standard with scrolled handled, an open asymmetrical cartouche applied to the front with rocaille and floral decoration, including three casters and two bottles, the bottle covers are unmarked and fit snugly into the two holders on the frame.

This early form is known as a "Warwick Cruet" after a cruet set made by Anthony Nelme in 1715 for the Duke of Warwick.
