White metal, possibly nickel, 54 x 76mm, signed in lower right with Brenner's monogram and dated 1907. The subject, a German immigrant, became a Union major general, U. S. senator, and Secretary of the Interior. The sculptor earned ever-lasting fame for designing the Lincoln cent.
