Three matching serial numbers 163909 on the underside, .36 caliber, six-shot cylinder with serial number 3910, 7.5 in. octagonal barrel, the top flat with ADDRESS COL. SAML. COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA, the left side of the frame with COLT'S / PATENT; silvered brass trigger guard and backstrap, the strap's front engraved From / Dart & Watkinson / New Orleans; checkered ivory grips, the left side embellished with Mexico's eagle and snake motif carved in high relief; overall scrolled foliate engraving in Louis D. Nimschke's style, fine details include a wolf's head on both sides of the hammer behind which the backstrap terminates in a palmette pattern. The revolver is presented in a chestnut case with brass mounts and lined with green velvet. Included are two bullet molds and a tin of "United States Army Caps."
