A contemporary American realist painter, Janet Fish is highly regarded for her large scale still lifes of everyday objects. She studied printmaking and sculpture at Smith College. She then studied painting under Alex Katz and Philip Pearlstein at Yale School of Art, where she received her MFA in 1963.

Fish's paintings are found in numerous public collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY; the Art Institute of Chicago, IL; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA; Whitney Museum of Art, New York, NY; Dallas Museum of Art, TX; and others.
