Meiji period (1868-1912), with dark brown patination overall, in two parts, the urn is elaborately decorated with many auspicious motifs, raised design of hawks and tigers amid bamboo decorate the body, the two large handles are cascades of pine trees, there are incised decoration around the bottom rim of the urn and on the underside a raised cartouche with three character artist's mark, the stand is a stepped base and raised on a pierced band filled with birds among branches of fruit, likely had a cover now lacking.
