Born in Kinston, NC, Pearson earned a reputation as a pioneer of Op Art. His work is present in many public collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY; the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY; the Guggenheim Museum, New York, NY; the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.; and the North Carolina Museum of Art, Raleigh, NC.
