Alcott Collection, Longwood Center for the Visual Arts, Farmville, Virginia, June 20 - October 18, 2014 (illustrated in the accompanying catalogue). This exhibition traveled to the North Carolina Museum of History, Raleigh, NC, September 10 - December 4, 2016.

Born in Greensboro, NC, Brandt moved to New York City after high school where he studied at the Pratt Institute and with Yasuo Kuniyoshi at the Art Students League. He was initially drawn to the work of the abstract expressionists, but his mature style evolved into the colorful bold domestic scenes such as the one presented here. His paintings are in such diverse public collections as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY; the Hirschhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, D.C.; the National Academy of Design, New York, NY; the Weatherspoon Art Museum, Greensboro, NC; and Parrish Art Museum, Water Mill, NY.
