Late 19th - early 20th century, the silvered 4 in. dial with Roman numerals, engraved "John Bruce, 26 Wapping, Liverpool," subsidiary dial for seconds and an up/down wind indicator, key-wound fusee movement, the instrument set in a gimbel mount secured under glass in a three-part lidded mahogany case having brass side handles and applied key hole escutcheon. The key is present. A mid-20th century American retailer's label is affixed to the lid's interior.

Presently running, but not guaranteed; the case lid and front have shaped depressions for nameplates that are no longer present; 3 in. crack along the case's lower right side; scattered small dings from normal use. Overall good estate condition.
