William Pope.L, known as "Pope.L," is a leading American artist whose groundbreaking work addresses race and social issues. He practices a range of media, including performance art, painting, printmaking, and installations with found objects. Pope.L participated in the 2017 Whitney Biennial with Claim (Whitney Version), a large sensorial installation that incorporated raw bologna and photography. Claim (Whitney Version) won the Whitney's 2017 Bucksbaum Award. International audiences enjoy Pope.L's performance art as well as his work that is featured in countless worldwide collections. His art has been the subject of various solo exhibitions, including a 2015 exhibition at MOCA Los Angeles.
