Chapman studied at Cypress College in California and Montgomery College in Rockville, MD. From 1980 until 1990, he was a studio assistant for Willem de Kooning in East Hampton, NY.
Chapman has exhibited extensively throughout the United States and has work in numerous public and private collections.
