From the Collection of Charlotte Rodman, Southern Pines, NC Charlotte is a NC native with a lifelong interest in art. She grew up in eastern NC, went to school in Raleigh and later owned a gallery in Pinehurst. She has lived in the Sandhills area for the last 30 years and gained recognition for both her work and her service in the arts community.

Born in Port-au-Prince, Naval learned the technique of lacquering with multiple colored varnishes from the artist Simil (Emilcar Similien). He applied this technique to build depth in his richly colored and densely composed jungle scenes.
