English Hatton and Harris Two-Day Marine Chronometer

Mid-19th century, signed silvered 3.5 in. dial numbered 620, Roman numeral hour indicators and a subsidiary seconds dial, key-wound movement, the underside of the brass case is engraved Wind Up to the Left Hand Every Two Days, the instrument being set in a conforming gimbel mount; the instrument's mahogany case has an inlay reading DUMAS 1079 on the lid and another serving as a keyhole escutcheon; the whole rests in a larger velvet lined mahogany carrying case with a leather strap. Two keys are included for the chronometer, but the lock lacks a key.



Chronometer case 7 x 6.75 x 6.75 in.; carrying case 8.5 x 12 x 9.5 in.
