Ernestine Betsberg studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. While there, she met her husband, Arthur Osver. They eventually settled in St. Louis, Missouri, where they kept separate studios. She was fascinated with the study of colors and bold in their application - as illustrated in this arrestingly modern still life.
