I. 30/11/24"; directly below the throat is a metal plate embossed with an elephant above ASSAYE, referring to Wellington's 1803 Indian victory; the wooden grip is carved with cross-hatch patterns; the pommel consists of a metal ring having thistle motifs supporting faceted amber-colored glass.
