Newport, Rhode Island, circa 1770s, in the manner of John Townsend, shaped crest rail with central carved fan and carved ears, classic pierced vasiform back splat, set within a shaped shoe, upholstered slip seat, front legs with stop fluting, stretcher base.

Replaced upholstery; one chair with six-inch reeding loss to right corner of right leg; the same chair with crack and repair to front left leg at rail joint and with small cut and patch to right rear lower leg; the second chair with cut and patch to right rear lower leg and cut and patch to front right corner by rail joint.
