19th century or earlier, the first, likely Continental, is covered in decoratively painted leather with hand-forged lock and clasp (5.25 x 14 in.); the second, also Continental with embossed leather, hand-forged lock and bail handle, later paper lining (4.75 x 11.75 in.); the third is leather over pine with brass studs (5.5 x 10 in.) (replaced hinges); the fourth is of a sophisticated design with two lower drawers, embossed leather with brass studs, cowhide trim, shagreen panels on the drawer fronts (later handle).
