Southern Chippendale Walnut Inlaid Chest of Drawers

Piedmont, North Carolina, circa 1800, poplar and yellow pine secondary, dovetailed case, top with applied molded cornice featuring two lightwood line inlays, four graduated lipped drawers, each with lightwood line inlay at border and lunettes at corners, flanked by fluted corner columns, applied molding at base, raised on bold ogee bracket feet with spur and raised pad.

44 x 45 x 21 in. Case width 42 in.

A good Southern inlaid example with original feet.

Later drawer glides; drawer runners rebuilt; missing one lock; later pulls but in original post holes; three small areas of lip repair; some scratching and wear to surface; first and third drawers have faux escutcheons; hairline split to front left foot.
