A matched pair of portraits of a man and woman. The woman wears a large garnet brooch at her lace collar with long gold chains falling atop her gown. The man depicted in a black suit and neckcloth, a gold chain also dangles over his starched white shirt, and with both hands visible. Each figure is seated before a drapery beyond which a sfumato landscape is visible.

Extensive craquelure and alligatored surfaces; both with patches to verso and associated re-touch; some paint flaking.
