Serial #527396, standard 45-70 caliber, 31.25 in. barrel stamped with A, VP and eagle's head marks, fitted with two sights; breechblock correctly retains earlier US/MODEL/1884 mark, walnut stock stamped with inspector's initials and date SWP/1891 in cartouche (Samuel W. Porter) and S in a circle on the underside; lockplate marked US/SPRINGDFIELD with eagle; fitted with retractable ramrod/bayonet, one-piece triggerguard with grooved trigger; the butt with compartment for gun tool (present), blued metal throughout.

Exceptionally fine condition with most of the blueing intact; a few small dings from light use; mechanically sound.
