Godie was a self-taught artist active in Chicago during the late 1960s to the early 1990s. She favored the steps of the Art Institute of Chicago as place to sell and create her art. She is often considered Chicago's most collected artist. Godie's drawings are in the permanent collection of the Art Institute of Chicago.
