Originally from London, Vinikoff moved with his wife and family in 1957 to Miami, Florida. A tailor by trade, he was known as the "Everglades Artist" for his sensitive and detailed depictions of the Florida wetlands. His favorite painting locations included Everglades National Park, Big Cypress National Preserve, and the adjacent Fakahatchee Preserve State Park.
