A Japanese Edo Period Keman Altar Plaque

Edo period (1615-1868), circa 1829, date inscribed on reverse in Japanese, Bunsei 12, fan shaped with openwork design of two pairs of family crests set between scrolling vines, a knotted cord around the family crest in the center in copper bronze, probably made to hang in a Japanese shrine for a wedding ceremony.

DOA 11.25 x 13.5 in.

Wear appropriate to age; some pushes to metal on openwork; original hanging accessory charms have been lost.
