OCTOBER 16, 1860. plus 44 CAL at breech; the brass carrier block also reads 44 CAL; the owner's initials "L.D.P." stamped twice on the top barrel flat plus on the left side of the walnut stock behind the receiver; heavily scrolled foliate patterns are engraved on the receiver, breech, forend tip and carrier.
