with a Chrysler 3.5 liter 24 valve V6 engine producing 253 horsepower paired with a rear mounted automatic four-speed semi-automatic transmission. This car was succeeded by the Chrysler Crossfire in design, one of which is also being offered in our Important Fall Auction. The rear mounted transmission resulted in a more desirable 50/50 weight distribution. The Prowler prominently featured aluminum construction, in many cases adhesively bonded, chiefly in the chassis. The body was produced in Ohio, and the car was assembled by hand at the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant (CAAP) in Detroit, Michigan. The lightweight of the chassis allowed the Prowler to have very quick acceleration times under 6 seconds.

The unique design of the Prowler was influenced by the free reign given to the engineers at Chrysler, and a thesis that was presented to the Art Center College of Design by Chip Foose. Foose would become a prominent figure in automotive design. The Indy Racer-Style front wheels are the most prominent feature of the car. The 17"x7" chrome five-spoke wheels are covered by a color matched fender, and the whole wheel and fender move as the car is turned. The large and very wide rear wheels at 20" x 10" give this car a classic 30s style rodder look. Because this car suffered from lack of storage space, a trailer was available that matched the rear of the Prowler, and was available in all colors.

Exterior in Prowler orange pearl coat. Interior in graphite leather/vinyl. The Prowler was equipped with many features that allowed it to be used as a daily driver. These features included keyless entry, power windows and door locks, dual airbags, leather-trimmed bucket seats, air conditioning with manual controls, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a color-keyed instrument panel bezel painted to match the exterior color of the Prowler, and a digital odometer and full instrumentation. This model has been upgraded with a Skoda Multimedia stereo unit that includes Navigation, Bluetooth, and HDD, along with CD/DVD/AM/FM.
