NASA Shuttle Team Autographed Poster and Two Patches

The poster centers on a 11 x 14 in. lithograph by Roland O. Powell titled One Man's Lifetime in which 20th century aeronautical advances are celebrated. The wide border around the print is dedicated in manuscript "To Martha Ann / Best wishes from the / Space Shuttle Team," and contains 62 signatures including those of Bob Crippen, Jon McBride and Sally Ride. Presented behind mat in a wooden frame (DOA 24 x 20 in.) (light age toning to the poster with some scuffs to the frame; good estate condition overall); plus a second frame featuring patches for the Space Shuttle Columbia's STS-1 mission of April 12-14, 1981 and its Chase Team (good estate condition).

These items were gifted to Martha Ann Higginbotham by Astronaut Jon Andrew McBride during his early days with NASA. McBride, a former Navy flier, became an astronaut in 1979 and was the lead chase pilot for the Space Shuttle Columbia. He went on to pilot the STS-41-G mission and capped his career as a liaison between NASA and Congress.
