Robin Smith Custom 2002 Heartland Five-String Bluegrass Banjo
Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Being a pristine single-owner instrument showcasing the talents of master luthier Robin Smith of Hendersonville, Tennessee. Smith's mahogany neck sports a rosewood fingerboard decorated with tasteful inlays that conform with those on the headstock; the banjo's pot assembly, created by Bill Stokes of Rowlett, Texas, uses century-old wood reclaimed from the Great Lakes by Timeless Timber of Fountain City, Wisconsin, this being noted by the fingerboard inlay reading "TIMELESS." Included are a tooled leather strap and a TKL hardshell case with plush lining.

Private North Carolina collection

Robin Smith's custom banjos are a professional choice and often reflect the personal needs and tastes of the end user. In fact, banjo virtuoso Bela Fleck owns and uses one of Smith's Heartland custom banjos. See Dustin Ogdin's online article on Robin Smith in the February 2012 Banjo Newsletter.

Metal elements will require some polish, else lightly used in very fine condition.
