New England Chippendale Mahogany Desk and Bookcase

Attributed to Massachusetts, circa 1780, white pine secondary, two-part form, upper dovetailed case with applied stepped molded cornice, two hinged upper cabinet doors, with shaped and molded panel, divided interior with molded front edges, the desk with dovetailed case, hinged lipped lid with breadboard ends, interior with eight pigeon holes with valanced upper drawers above above seven small drawers, surrounding an open compartment, the case with four graduated flush mounted drawers, applied molded base, applied ogee bracket feet.

Replaced cabinet hinges; cut, patch, and repair to lower right hinge area; two small shrinkage splits to fall lid; later pulls but in original holes; drawer runners rebuilt; left rear ogee foot missing one inch of facing; all feet appear to be original but with with shrinkage splits;
