Tomoko Sawada is a leading feminist photographer based in Japan whose works are collected worldwide. She uses imagery of herself to explore the themes of identity and individuality, and the inner versus the outer self.

Sawada has been featured in numerous international solo and group exhibitions, including the Global Feminisms exhibition curated by Linda Nochlin and Maura Reilly. She was also the recipient of the distinguished Kimura Ihei Memorial Photography Award for Young Japanese Photographer and International Center of Photography Infinity Award in the category of Young Photographer.
