After Giambologna (Flemish/Italian,1529-1608), Grand Tour Bronze Figure of Mercury

Late 19th century, patinated bronze, unsigned, modeled after the original by Giovanni da Bologna (Giambologna), that once decorated the Villa Medici in Rome until 1780 and now at the Bargello National Museum in Florence, depicting Mercury flying upon the wind deity Zephyrus, atop a slate and bronze relief pedestal with continuous relief of nine putti.

Caduceus with bending near the handle; some areas of rubbing to the patina; area of adhesive and possible repair between right forefinger and middle finger; some chips to slate pedestal.
