Early 20th century, all Qing political and military personnel above the rank of bailiff had to wear a kind of weft hat., the hat knob denoting the Manchu official rank. This winter hat consists of a black cloth skullcap with upturned brim, red silk tassel decoration and milky glass knob denoting an official of 6th rank, presented in original leather and metal conical case.

Hat approx. 6 x 7.5 in.

Hat interior retains original paper label.

Hat with age appropriate wear especially to the edges of the upturned brim. Case hinge missing pin.
