Descended through the Estate of Roger and Lulu Duvoisin, Gladstone, NJ

Born in Poland, the sister of Jack Tworkov, she and her family emigrated to New York City in 1913. She changed her last name from Tworkov to Biala, at the suggestion of William Zorach, to differentiate herself from her brother. She was a well-known and highly regarded artist in the United State and France; and was among the few women associated with the New York School. In 1950, she participated in the important abstract expressionist discussion group at Studio 35. Winnie Duvoisin was married to Dr. Roger Duvoisin, son of the artist.
