In traditional Chinese society, for festive occasions, young children were clothed in hats decorated with symbols to protect against evil and ensure a long life. Tigers, rabbits, bats and dragons were believed to give a child strength, frighten away evil spirits, bring academic success, and ensure a prosperous future.

In good condition given age and uses; this hat has one animal face above the other and one ear is lacking; several loose threads.
