Meiji period (1868-1912), two-part form ornately carved wood cabinet, the top with a pierced and carved cornice and frieze with auspicious Asian motifs of phoenix among pine and peonies, the cabinet has an arrangement of shelves and cabinets throughout, some with panels of gilded leather embroidered with Chinese figures, on wood in some places are gilded crests, elaborately carved base with carved pheasants among peonies.

79.5 x 48 x 15 in.

Leather panels loose in some places; loss to gilding overall; surface wear and scratches especially to central shelf, addition of later pulls on bottom drawers.
