Edo period (1615-1868), light green ground with copper wires in scroll pattern and designs of fruit and flora, underside has unusual covering, perhaps lacquer mixed with sand, decorated with copper wires in swirls throughout and flowers filled with enamel.

Dorothy Ferster is an authority on cloisonne and is the co-author for the scholarly publication Japanese Cloisonne: History, Technique, and Appreciation, published by Weatherhill in 1982.

Good to fair condition; loss to the interior of bowl of enamel and spotting, perhaps as made; back has some loss to lacquer material covering the enamel base.
