1866 Pattern George Washington Nickel

NGC PF58, Judd-473. The obverse of this proposed 5¢ coin shows Washington's bust under "IN GOD WE TRUST" while the reverse has the familiar rays-between-stars configuration as used on business strike 1866 and 1867 Shield nickels. A rare and highly collectible 19th century pattern.

NGC recommends this coin as "a good candidate for NCS Conservation." Presumably the coin's gray surfaces could be restored to their original mirror finish.
