With a four character Zhang Mingqi Zhi mark incised on the underside, bronze, rectangular in form, with various pierced openwork designs on the removable cover, single handle that moves easily in either direction, separately cast and attached to the box, hand warmers were used in the winter and filled with burning coals.

Good condition with some spots of loss to bronze and rubbing; dark spots throughout piece; wear to the interior as expected with use, green patina inside.
