Light olive alkaline glazed stoneware, quart size jug, with two incised rings around the neck above the mark "AR", and over a band of three incised rings, the flattened sides allow speculation that this jug served as a saddle flask.

The same or an extremely similar jug is described in "Potters of the Catawba
Valley North Carolina" p.58 # 46, former collection of Howard Smith.

The pottery-making tradition in the Reinhardt family began in the 19th century with patriarch Ambrose A. Reinhardt.
