Two Japanese Okimono Fisherman and Monkeys

Meiji period (1868-1912), whale bone, both signed by artist, one of five monkeys (5 in.) artist signature "Masachika," monkeys sit upon one another forming a mountain, one wears a shinto or court hat on top, a smaller one at the bottom being fed a peach, the other okimono is an elderly fisherman (7.75 in.) standing on a craggy rock with a basket and fish, he holds a net in his other hand containing fish as well, his robe is incised with decoration of bamboo and netting.

Previous owner acquired while he was the Secretary of State during the Eisenhower administration and traveled and worked his entire career in Asia.

Very good condition; fisherman has slight nick and loss to the handle of the basket he is holding.
