The first being a double thermoplastic case containing two sixth plate daguerreotypes of women, one young and one elderly. The mat for the older lady is impressed by AMBROTYPE BY P. E. GIBBS RICHD with patent dates for July 1854. Curiously, these images are not ambrotypes. Gibbs is noted as being active in Richmond, 1856 -1860. The case is embossed with a tableaux showing a woman, baby and faithful dog (minor chips to the case,diagonal fracture to one glass cover); the second is a ninth plate ambrotype depicting a young man in a slouch hat, the mat being impressed J. W. PETTY 136 POYDRAS ST. Petty is noted to have been active in New Orleans, 1857-61.

Good estate condition.
