17th-18th century, Nepal, this votive plaque is decorated with a central Hindu deity set within a flaming halo and has four arms holding an Ankusa, arrows, snake and trident, he is wearing a skull necklace around his neck, a seven-point crown and is seated on top of a figure, perhaps representing ignorance, below is a band with four deities carved in high relief, the deity on the very left may be Brahma.

5.25 x 3.75 in.

Given to Stewart Edwards by the Royal family of Nepal for his service and friendship in the late 1950s

Good condition with normal wear and rubbing to surface expected with age and use; some red pigment remains on the raised areas of Durga's body.
